Kensington Church Street Flower Stall
There are flower stalls on many street corners in London. One of my missions on our trip was to seek them out, and record their loveliness. We found flowers in the most unlikely places: multiple vases of pink and purple tulips in a pub loo, a large formal tribute to the Queen on a pub windowsill and a single tulip in the toilet on the airplane. Many of the pubs had outdoor hanging flower baskets and window boxes that spilled over with geraniums, fuchsia, petunias and ivy. All of the large department stores had flower departments, which bubbled up with expensive hand-tied bouquets of exotic and fragrant roses, lilies and hydrangeas. During the Jubilee any place that wasn't already quite picturesque and beautified was also festooned with flying street party bunting; sometimes very patriotic and red, white and blue Union Jacks, or whimsical with obliging and ubiquitous corgis. So many lilies were gilded. This is the corner of Kensington Church Street, in front of St. Mary Abbot's Church and just behind the Palace. You can nip off the high street and get away from the bustle to explore the church. And then buy a fistful of posies, of course. http://www.panoramicearth.com/4509/London/St_Mary_Abbots_Church
